What is LOAF?

Loaf quite simply changes the way you use your mobile. Now, tomorrow and forever...

Your Loaf name is the new way for people to contact you and for you to contact them via text messaging. No longer do you need to divulge your mobile number, you can tell them to use your Loaf! It can be someone you've met in a bar, friends on your social network site or a potential customer. It is safe and 100% anonymous and completely transportable should you change mobile or phone number.

In time, this site and the services offered from Loaf will evolve so stay in touch and make sure you read our Help & Support pages to understand how we work and how you can get the most from Loaf.

It's FREE to receive text messages through Loaf but costs 25p (including all network charges) to send. So only costs you 13p extra - a small price to pay for safe texting!

Why do I need a Loaf name?

Loaf is ideal for situations where you want people to contact you on your mobile BUT you don't want to give your mobile number. For example:

- Contact details on your eBay advert

- Meeting new people at a bar, club or wherever

- Contact details on classified ads in the local paper or online e.g. Gumtree

- Advertising your services e.g text PlumbersUK to 88845 for a quote

- Contact details on your Facebook or MySpace profile page

- Dating

- Marketing & Promotions

If you no longer want to receive text messages from that person you simply 'block' them.

How do I send a message?

Once you have a Loaf account you can send text messages to other Loaf members. To send a message you send the text:

- <Their Loaf Name ><You Message> to88845

So for example if bob44 wants to send a text message to saucysusan he sends the following:

- saucysusan what time do you want to meet later?

saucysusan will then receive:

- what time do you want to meet later? (bob44)

For Susan to reply she then texts:

- bob44 shall we meet around 2pm at the bar?

Mobile-to-Email

As well as sending text messages mobile-to-mobile you can now send messages mobile-to-email! So instead of receiving texts sent to your Loaf name on your mobile, you can have them re-directed to your email address instead!

This is perfect for people who expect to receive a high volume of Loaf messages - or for people going away but still want to receive their messages.
